1元硬幣大！「鱟寶寶」掌上跳華爾滋 好像《小精靈》

小小的鱟（讀音：后）在手掌上移動著，像是華爾滋的小青蛙，模樣十分可愛。美國佛州魚類和野生動物保護管理局(FWC)表示，29日是月圓之夜，成年的鱟會隨著漲潮到岸上交配，希望能募集「交配照」供學術研究之用。

影片中，小小的鱟大約1元硬幣大小，在手掌上用尾部控制方向，一下墊高一下降低，宛如在跳舞一般，小巧的外型和電玩遊戲裡的「小精靈」十分相似，許多網友第一次看到鱟寶寶活動的樣子，覺得可愛極了。幼年的鱟在潮間帶生活，長大後就會游向海中，到了繁殖季便會隨著漲潮回到海灘交配，繁殖下一代。

生物學家推測，鱟會在29日月圓之夜上海灘交配，「希望若是幸運目擊，能提供照片給我們，通常會是小隻的公鱟在較大的母鱟上面。」鱟又稱為馬蹄蟹，已經存在世界上4.5億年，但近來因為棲地破壞，數量逐漸減少，此次的目擊資料將作為數量推算的參考。

The next full moon is Sunday, April 29th and FWC biologists are encouraging sighting reports of mating horseshoe crabs. Beachgoers will have the best luck spotting horseshoe crabs mating around high tide, within three days of a full or new moon. To identify mating pairs, look for a smaller male on top of a larger female. Your reports provide important information about population distribution to the FWC. Although horseshoe crabs have existed for about 450 million years, their numbers have declined due to overfishing and loss of habitat.
