如果在戶外看到有人拿著手機捕捉虛擬神奇寶貝，你無須覺得一頭霧水，因為那是現今全球最夯的擴增實境（AR）手機遊戲「精靈寶可夢Go」（Pokémon Go）。
Pokémon Go目前在台灣尚未上架，因此我們無法下載這個App。然而，我們不妨從它的官網，看看「Pokémon Go」的產品介紹，一方面先了解這個遊戲的迷人之處，趕上世界潮流；二來藉由閱讀官網的英文產品介紹來增進我們閱讀能力，可謂一舉數得。
Pokémon GO is built on Niantic’s Real World Gaming Platform and will use real locations to encourage players to search far and wide in the real world to discover Pokémon.
官網上說，Pokémon Go是建立在Niantic公司的「真實世界遊戲平台（Real World Gaming Platform）」上，並且使用真實的地點位置來鼓勵玩家在真實世界裡到處尋找寶可夢小精靈。
location與search都是多益測驗的核心字彙，location這個字表示「位置、所在地」，而search far and wide則是指在「各處找尋」。
例句：

（我一直在尋覓我們餐廳的新地點。）

（警方到處尋找那部失蹤的汽車。）
當你四處移動的時候，你的智慧型手機會以「震動」的方式告知你寶可夢小精靈就在附近。一旦你遇到了小精靈，要用你智慧型手機的觸控螢幕瞄準，並且丟出精靈球來抓住小精靈。官網是這麼說的：
As you move around, your smartphone will vibrate to let you know you're near a Pokémon. Once you've encountered a Pokémon, take aim on your smartphone's touch screen and throw a Poké Ball to catch it.
手機的「震動」功能vibrate，它的名詞是vibration。在國外，會議之前主席會說「手機請調到震動模式！」，英文是「Please turn your cellphone to vibration mode!」
此外，「瞄準」的aim可是國際職場與多益測驗的核心字彙，可指「瞄準」以及「意欲、旨在」之意，名詞則可當「目標」。

Pokémon Go之所以掀起讓全世界風靡的熱潮，以致於在戶外看到許多玩家在找東找西，源自以下的設計精神：
Get on your feet and step outside to find and catch wild Pokémon. Explore cities and towns around where you live and even around the globe to capture as many Pokémon as you can.
（抬起腳步踏出戶外，尋找並去抓野生小精靈。在你所住的城鎮甚至全世界四處晃晃，儘量抓個夠。）
explore是「探究、勘查」，其實就是要你多「四處晃晃」，鼓勵玩家走出戶外。
例句：
The night market is the place where we will explore later.
（夜市是我們等一下要去逛一逛的地方。）
順道一提，智慧型手機必須具備GPS（衛星定位功能），才能玩這個類似尋寶遊戲的手遊App。GPS的全名是Global Positioning System。position是「位置、地點」，所以positioning是「定位」。
此外，virtual也是必學的單字，它在字典裡是指「實際的、實質的」，但在網路世代裡，它是指「虛擬的」。所以，virtual monsters可不是「真實的怪物」，而是虛擬怪獸；智慧型手機的「虛擬鍵盤」則是virtual keyboard。你不能不知道以下資訊：
After downloading the app, players use Global Positioning System and their smartphone cameras to collect virtual monsters which appear in real world locations.
（下載這個App之後，玩家要用衛星定位系統與智慧型手機的相機功能來抓那些顯示在真實世界地點裡的虛擬怪獸。）
我們知道Pokémon Go是AR遊戲。AR即「Augmented Reality」，中文稱作「擴增實境」。augment讀作[ɔgˋmɛnt]，它等同於increase與enlarge這兩個表示「擴大、增加、提高」之意的字，所以稱為「『擴增』實境」。
話說，只要你知道「8月」是August，則augment這個字並不難記。羅馬最有權勢的皇帝之一奧古斯都大帝（Augustus），因其豐功偉業而使羅馬王朝將他的名字做為8月的稱號。在英文中，字根aug就因奧古斯都大帝而有「增加」之意。用8月的August來記住augment，是不是輕而易舉呢？
例句：
Pokémon Go brings the world of the game in to the real world, using a technology called augmented reality.
（精靈寶可夢Go運用一種稱為擴增實境的技術，將遊戲帶入真實世界。）
注意！警方已發現數起因為玩家在戶外太過沈迷Pokémon Go而造成危險的案件，美國Pokémon Go網站也警告大眾：
For safety’s sake, never play Pokémon Go when you’re on your bike, driving a car, riding a hoverboard, or anything else where you should be paying attention, and of course never wander away from your parents or your group to catch a Pokémon.
（騎自行車、開車、玩氣墊板，或是其他需要專心注意的事情，都不要玩精靈寶可夢Go；也不要為了抓寶可夢精靈而走失父母或同行友人群的身邊。）
上文中的wander away 是「走失」之意，例句：「A three-year-old boy has wandered away in the park.（一個三歲男孩在公園走失了。）」
